Scholarships Available

The following scholarships are offered by Sigma Kappa Foundation based on the criteria listed. Please read descriptions carefully. Applicants may apply for all scholarships for which they meet the criteria. The application is an online system that will pre-qualify applicants based on GPA and other basic demographic criteria.

If you see a scholarship for which you believe you are qualified, but you are unable to see it on the online application, please call the Sigma Kappa Foundation at: (317) 872-3275 ext. 3.

UNDERGRADUATE/COLLEGIATE SCHOLARSHIPS - GENERAL

Alice Hersey Wick ScholarshipOne scholarship – Up to $500
  • Applicants should be initiated collegiate members in good standing
  • Minimum cumulative GPA: 3.0
  • Applications will be judged on leadership and service provided to the chapter, campus, and community
Founders’ ScholarshipFive scholarships – Up to $1000 each
  • Applicants should be active, initiated, continuing members in good standing
  • Minimum cumulative GPA: 3.0
  • Demonstrated leadership role on campus (student government, chapter officer, panhellenic officer, etc.)
  • Preference will be given to sophomores and juniors with at least one year’s study remaining
Frances Warren Baker Memorial ScholarshipOne scholarship – Up to $500
  • Available to a member in good standing
  • Enrolled in an undergraduate program in the fields of journalism or communication (print media)
  • Minimum cumulative GPA: 3.0
  • Preference will be given to sophomores and juniors with at least one year’s study remaining
Marian Johnson Frutiger ScholarshipThree scholarships – Up to $1,000 each
  • Initiated member in good financial standing
  • Minimum cumulative GPA: 3.0
  • Exemplifies the ideals and standards of Sigma Kappa
  • Exhibits outstanding sisterhood
  • Demonstrate leadership in the Greek system
Maridell Braham Condon ScholarshipOne scholarship – Up to $500
  • Applicants should be initiated, active members in good standing
  • Majoring in education
  • Minimum cumulative GPA: 3.0
  • Preference will be given to juniors and seniors with at least one year’s study remaining
  • Applicants will be judged on demonstrated financial need and active participation in a variety of Sigma Kappa and academic activities


UNDERGRADUATE/COLLEGIATE SCHOLARSHIPS - CHAPTER/STATE SPECIFIC

Andrea Will Memorial ScholarshipOne scholarship – Up to $500
  • Applicants should be new initiates in good standing of Gamma Mu Chapter, matriculating at Eastern Illinois University
  • Minimum cumulative GPA: 3.0
  • Demonstrating involvement in co-curricular activities, and evidence of leadership qualities and experience
Barber-Owen-Thomas ScholarshipOne scholarship – Up to $500
  • Available to active members in good standing of the Beta Sigma Chapter (Purdue University)
  • Junior or senior in class status (mid-year graduating seniors are also eligible)
  • Minimum cumulative GPA: 2.5
  • In need of financial assistance
  • Residing in the chapter house
Beta Nu/Caryl Cordis D’hondt ScholarshipOne scholarship – Up to $500
  • Applicants should be initiated members in good standing (scholastic, financial, membership) of Beta Nu Chapter (Bradley University)
  • In need of financial assistance
  • Involved in Sigma Kappa and the Bradley University campus
Beta Omega ScholarshipOne scholarship – Up to $1,000
  • Applicants should be initiated, active members in good standing of Beta Omega Chapter (University of Nebraska, Omaha)
  • Junior or senior class status (mid-year graduating seniors are eligible)
  • Minimum cumulative GPA: 3.0
  • In need of financial assistance
Beta Sigma ScholarshipOne scholarship – Up to $500
  • Applicants should be active, initiated members in good standing of Beta Sigma Chapter (Purdue University)
  • Sophomore, junior, or senior class status (mid-year graduating seniors are eligible)
  • Minimum cumulative GPA: 2.5
  • In need of financial assistance
  • Reside in the chapter house
  • Applicant(s) must demonstrate leadership in their chapter and on campus
Christine Kerr Cawthorne ScholarshipOne scholarship – Up to $1,000
  • Applicants should be initiated collegiate members in good standing of Alpha Chi Chapter (Georgetown College)
  • A matriculated rising sophomore at the time the application is completed, and therefore a matriculated junior in the academic year for which the scholarship is issued
  • Minimum cumulative GPA: 3.0
  • Applicants will be judged on leadership and service provided to the chapter and campus community
Delta Chi Alumnae Memorial ScholarshipOne scholarship – Up to $400
  • Applicants should be initiated members of Delta Chi Chapter (University of Central Oklahoma)
  • Junior or senior class status
  • Minimum cumulative GPA: 3.25
  • Currently enrolled in 12 hours or more
  • Consideration will be given for leadership and service provided to the chapter and to the campus community
Elin J. Stene/Xi ScholarshipTwo scholarships – Up to $1,000 each
  • Applicants should be initiated, active members in good standing of Xi Chapter (University of Kansas)
  • Junior or senior class status (mid-year graduating seniors are eligible)
  • Minimum cumulative GPA: 3.0

Elise Reed Jenkins Memorial Scholarship - Alpha DeltaOne scholarship – Up to $500
  • Applicants should be an undergraduate member of either Alpha Delta Chapter (University of Tennessee, Knoxville), Gamma Lambda Chapter (East Tennessee State University), or Gamma Psi Chapter (Tennessee Wesleyan)
  • Applicants should be loyal members of Sigma Kappa for at least two, and preferably three years
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of: 3.0
Elise Reed Jenkins Memorial Scholarship - Gamma LambdaOne scholarship – Up to $500
  • Applicants should be an undergraduate member of either Alpha Delta Chapter (University of Tennessee, Knoxville), Gamma Lambda Chapter (East Tennessee State University), or Gamma Psi Chapter (Tennessee Wesleyan)
  • Applicants should be loyal members of Sigma Kappa for at least two, and preferably three years
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of: 3.0

Epsilon Epsilon ScholarshipOne scholarship – Up to $500
  • Initiated member in good standing of Epsilon Epsilon Chapter (University of Georgia)
  • Junior or senior class status
  • Minimum cumulative GPA 3.00
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities as an officer or former officer of the chapter
  • Financial need will be considered
Epsilon Tau ScholarshipOne scholarship – Up to $500
  • Initiated member in good standing (scholastic, financial, membership) of Epsilon Tau Chapter (California State University at Fullerton)
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Involvement in Sigma Kappa, campus, and the community
Evelyn. S. Nish ScholarshipOne scholarship – Up to $1000
  • Applicants should be initiated, active members in good standing of the Theta Chapter (University of Illinois)
  • Junior or senior student enrolled during the academic year that the scholarship is granted
  • Minimum cumulative GPA: 3.0
Gamma Iota Scholarship - Gamma TauOne scholarship – Up to $500
  • Applicants should be initiated members attending Kappa Eta (Texas Christian University), Zeta Nu (University of Texas at San Antonio), Gamma Tau (Midwestern State), or Zeta Kappa (Angelo State).
  • Minimum cumulative GPA: 3.0
  • Member must have held or currently hold a Sorority position
  • Demonstrate involvement in campus and community activities
  • In need of financial assistance
Gamma Iota Scholarship - Kappa EtaOne scholarship – Up to $500
  • Applicants should be initiated members attending Kappa Eta (Texas Christian University), Zeta Nu (University of Texas at San Antonio), Gamma Tau (Midwestern State), or Zeta Kappa (Angelo State).
  • Minimum cumulative GPA: 3.0
  • Member must have held or currently hold a Sorority position
  • Demonstrate involvement in campus and community activities
  • In need of financial assistance
Gamma Iota Scholarship - Zeta KappaOne scholarship – Up to $500
  • Applicants should be initiated members attending Kappa Eta (Texas Christian University), Zeta Nu (University of Texas at San Antonio), Gamma Tau (Midwestern State), or Zeta Kappa (Angelo State).
  • Minimum cumulative GPA: 3.0
  • Member must have held or currently hold a Sorority position
  • Demonstrate involvement in campus and community activities

Gamma Iota Scholarship - Zeta NuOne scholarship – Up to $500
  • Applicants should be initiated members attending Kappa Eta (Texas Christian University), Zeta Nu (University of Texas at San Antonio), Gamma Tau (Midwestern State), or Zeta Kappa (Angelo State).
  • Minimum cumulative GPA: 3.0
  • Member must have held or currently hold a Sorority position
  • Demonstrate involvement in campus and community activities

Irma E. Voigt Memorial ScholarshipOne scholarship – Up to $500
  • Applicants should be initiated members of Beta Upsilon Chapter (Ohio University) in good standing
  • Junior class status, currently enrolled in 12 or more hours
  • Minimum cumulative GPA: 3.0
  • Actively involved in her chapter, on campus, and in the community
Joan Reagin McNeill Scholarship - Alpha ThetaOne scholarship – Up to $500
  • Applicants should be active sophomore, junior, or senior members of Alpha Theta Chapter (University of Louisville) or Theta Phi Chapter (University of Tennessee, Chattanooga) in good standing
  • With at least one year remaining for completion of an undergraduate degree
  • Minimum cumulative GPA: 3.25
  • Financial need will be considered
Joan Reagin McNeill Scholarship - Theta PhiOne scholarship – Up to $500
  • Applicants should be active sophomore, junior, or senior members of Alpha Theta Chapter (University of Louisville) or Theta Phi Chapter (University of Tennessee, Chattanooga) in good standing
  • With at least one year remaining for completion of an undergraduate degree
  • Minimum cumulative GPA: 3.25
  • Financial need will be considered
Kappa Zeta ScholarshipOne scholarship – Up to $750
  • Applicants should be initiated members of Kappa Zeta Chapter (Elon University) in good standing
  • Demonstrate outstanding leadership and service to the chapter, Panhellenic, and the University
  • Minimum cumulative GPA: 3.4
Lorraine E. Swain ScholarshipOne scholarship – Up to $500
  • Initiated in Sigma Kappa, currently active, and in good standing with the chapter at a College or University in Colorado
Lucile Cheever Graubart/ Lambda ScholarshipTwo scholarships – Up to $750 each
  • Applicants should be initiated members of Lambda Chapter (University of California, Berkeley) in good standing
  • In need of financial assistance
Mary Turnbull Schacht Memorial ScholarshipOne scholarship – Up to $500
  • Applicants should be initiated, active members in good standing of the Lambda Chapter (University of California, Berkeley)
  • Demonstrate outstanding leadership and service provided to the chapter, panhellenic and the University of California, Berkeley
  • Minimum cumulative GPA: 3.0
Michigan ScholarshipOne scholarship – Up to $250
  • Michigan resident as defined by the university of attendance
  • Initiated in Sigma Kappa, currently active, and in good standing with the chapter at a College or University in Michigan
  • Must have at least two semesters of undergraduate study remaining at the time of the award (August 2004)
  • Minimum GPA: 2.5 and in good standing with the university of enrollment
  • May not have received the scholarship previously
Theta Tau ScholarshipOne scholarship – Up to $1,000
  • Applicants should be initiated, active members in good standing with Theta Tau Chapter (Kansas State University)
  • Junior or senior class status (mid-year graduating seniors are also eligible)
  • Minimum cumulative GPA: 3.0
  • In need of financial assistance
Theta/Caryl Cordis D’hondt ScholarshipOne scholarship – Up to $500
  • Applicants should be initiated, active members in good standing with Theta Chapter (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign)
  • Matriculated as a rising Senior at the time of the application
  • Minimum cumulative GPA: 3.25
  • Demonstrated involvement in Sigma Kappa
Wilma Sackett Dressel ScholarshipOne scholarship – Up to $500
  • Initiated member in good standing of Alpha Tau Chapter (Michigan State University)
  • Demonstrated financial need


SCHOLARSHIPS FOR ALL SIGMA KAPPA MEMBERS

Gerontology ScholarshipOne scholarship – Up to $1000
  • Available to a junior, senior, or graduate student with at least one year’s study remaining
  • Must be a member in good standing, majoring in Gerontology (the study of aging) or a related field
  • Minimum cumulative GPA: 3.0
Margaret J. Andrew Memorial ScholarshipTwo scholarships – Up to $750 each
  • Applicants should be in good standing as a junior, senior, or graduate student
  • Studying food science/food technology or a related major (nutrition, dietetics, etc.)
  • Minimum cumulative GPA: 3.0


SCHOLARSHIPS FOR ALUMNAE MEMBERS/GRADUATE STUDENTS ONLY

Alumnae Continuing Education ScholarshipFive scholarships – Up to $1000 each
  • Available to alumnae currently possessing an undergraduate degree from a four-year institution and having been accepted/enrolled in an advanced degree program
  • Minimum cumulative GPA: 3.0
Alzheimer’s/Gerontology ScholarshipThree scholarships – Up to $1000 each
  • Available to graduate students or alumnae studying Alzheimer’s, Gerontology (the study of aging), or a related field
Jean B. Teare Volunteers’ Scholarship*One Scholarship – Up to $500
  • Applicants should be alumnae members in good standing who have provided service to the Sorority, Foundation, or National Housing Corporation for at least four consecutive years (including the award year) as a Sorority national officer in either an elected or appointed office, a collegiate chapter advisor, Foundation trustee, Foundation committee member, National Housing Corporation officer, coordinator, corporation board or property committee member.
*Note, this scholarship is only available in convention years.
Michigan ScholarshipOne scholarship – Up to $250
  • Michigan resident, as defined by the university of attendance
  • An active member, in good standing, in a Michigan Sigma Kappa Alumnae Chapter or Club
  • Enrolled in a graduate level program
  • May not have received the degree scholarship previously, either as an undergraduate or a graduate
Walta Wilkinson Carmichael ScholarshipOne Scholarship – Up to $500
  • Available to alumnae members in good standing, enrolled in a graduate program, who have demonstrated participation in collegiate chapter activities from their beginning year and continuing through the senior year of membership
  • Minimum undergraduate GPA: 3.0
