Committees

Audit Committee
Purpose: To assist in the preparation of the annual audited financial statements.
Responsible for: Meeting with the auditors via conference call prior to the preparation of the yearly financial documents, and again to review the draft of said documents prior to publication.
Requirements: Financial background and general knowledge of the finances of the Foundation; shall contribute to the Sigma Kappa Foundation on an annual basis or through a planned gift.
Composition: The Chairman shall be the Treasurer or her appointee. The committee will include three alumnae members of Sigma Kappa appointed by the President. Membership must be different from that of the Finance Committee.

Finance Committee

Purpose: To oversee the investments of the Foundation.
Responsible for: Managing the investment strategy of the Foundation.
Requirements: Knowledge regarding investments and finances and availability to meet at least quarterly via telephone conference call; shall contribute to the Sigma Kappa Foundation on an annual basis or through a planned gift.
Composition: The Chairman shall be the Treasurer or her appointee. The committee will include one additional trustee and two alumnae members of Sigma Kappa.

Governance Committee
Purpose: To provide an ongoing and continuous focus on identifying, preparing and recruiting governance leaders, including the definition of skills and attributes required in board members.
Responsible for: Board management, implementing planning, vision and strategic direction, performance oversight, accountability and constituent relations.
Requirements: Experience on non-profit board of directors and Knowledge of strategic planning and assessment; shall contribute to the Sigma Kappa Foundation on an annual basis or through a planned gift.
Composition: The committee shall be appointed by the Foundation President. President will serve ex-officio.

Grant Making Committee
Purpose: To administer the grant and scholarship programs of the Sigma Kappa Foundation.
Responsible for: Reviewing scholarship and grant applications and recommending funding for scholarship and grant programs.
Requirements: Approval of the board and an active interest in the Foundation grant and scholarship programs; shall contribute to the Sigma Kappa Foundation on an annual basis or through a planned gift.
Composition: The Chairman must be an elected Trustee of the Foundation and shall be appointed by the Foundation President. The committee will include seven to ten alumnae members of Sigma Kappa.

PULSE Committee
Purpose: To identify major gift opportunities.
Responsible for: Identifying major gift prospects.
Requirements: Experience in the field of development and cultivation and willingness to actively participate in specific fundraising projects; shall contribute to the Sigma Kappa Foundation on an annual basis or through a planned gift.
Composition: The Chairman and committee shall be appointed by the Foundation President. The committee shall be comprised of three to five alumnae members of Sigma Kappa.
